Each "Resident Home Area" is home to no more than 26 Residents, encouraging
smaller, more intimate social groups. Décor further reflects a homey
environment through the use of familiar materials, finishes and colours, encouraging
a cheery, restful setting.
Each Resident room features a bed, chair, side table and armoire, leaving
lots of space for our Residents' most precious possessions. Large, screened
windows open to face the charming landscape of either our external surroundings
or interior courtyards. Bathrooms are designed to accommodate walkers, wheelchairs
and commodes and feature a variety of grab bars/handrails enabling our Residents
to maintain maximum independence.
At St. Joseph's at Fleming, the safety and security of you or your loved one
is foremost in our minds. Nurse call bells are located next to Resident beds
and in adjoining bathrooms. Radiant heating is provided through panels in
the ceiling, ensuring that our Residents are kept safe from contact with hot
surfaces. State-of-the-art air exchange systems maintain a comfortable temperature
at all times and assist in managing infection.

Differing from the old concept of semi-private defined as multiple beds in
one room, semi-private rooms at St. Joseph's at Fleming feature two private
bedroom spaces sharing one en-suite bathroom with toilet and sink. Each semi-private
room has been designed to encourage maximum privacy, utilize available space
effectively, and allow for ease of access for Residents with limited mobility.
